ANZAC Commemorations
Apr 25, 2023, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Look, listen and learn as one browses through historic and purpose-built buildings filled with memorabilia and stories from all war time eras.
Our displays will feature stories shared by local service persons themselves in book form or as stories or by their descendants, giving readers a better understanding of their experiences.
Displays featuring life at home in war time eg comforts funds, womens lady army, farm machinery and essential services, encourage visitors to share their memories or stories passed down within their family. For others the displays stir memories from long ago that they may now care to share.
Sharing recollections by Highlands Soldier settler families and other returned service personnel with today’s residents often gives them an extra appreciation of the local history.
Parking is on nearby streets.
A display by Australian Remembrance Army featuring a Samford/Highlands Soldier Settler's story whose plaque is being unveiled in the ceremony prior to ANZAC day.
A talk about the Symbols of Anzac will be given during the morning.
Children will receive a reward for completing their treasure hunt.
